Milton Keynes Sur Mer!

Yesterday Elaine had a relaxing day reading and swimming in the pool, while I took the dogs for another walk around St Remy De Provence.

Nothing really new to photograph, although the house with all the teddy bears on the window sills was nice ...

And I found the war memorial ...

This morning we drove back to the coast in very windy conditions, the van was getting blown all over the road!

We ended up in an Aire at a beach side suburb called Carnon ...

We are located at the little blue dot ...

The beach is quite nice but it was still blowing  gale and sea was 'very angry my friends' ...

It's a beach though so he is happy ...

Especially when he finds a manky stick ...

The whole place seems quite modern, as in built in the late 70s / early 80s.  Some of the houses are quite nice but it is ruined by thousands of cheap looking flats ...

We found our way round to the port area, where there were lots of old boys playing boules / petanque  ...

The port itself was also pretty grotty.  The boats all looked nice but the surrounding restaurants were really grubby looking and so expensive and a lot of them were closed. There are thousands of flats surrounding the port but very  few people about!  The place just didn't appeal to me at all, although to be fair we have been to some cracking places so the occasional dump has got to be expected ...

We had a windswept walk back to the van and I can honestly say I was glad to get back!

I got on google when I got back and did a search on Carnon, looks like my thoughts on the place were spot on!

Carnon: Bad
There's just something cheap and nasty about Montpellier's two big beaches, Carnon and Palavas. Carnon is lined with truly hideous concrete holiday apartments that seem to have lost out in popularity over the years to La Grande Motte. The beach itself is made up of smaller beaches created by large wave barriers. Strangely, there isn't much in the way of restaurants or bars along the beach, for that you'll have to venture into the delights of Carnon town.

Naturist?

PS:  No disrespect to Milton Keynes in the title ... just meant that it is a modern development, of course!
